1.
"The Garfield El", Fiery Furnaces: The most powerful
track off their sprawling, epic "Rehearsing My Choir"
album, the brother and sister duo's grandmother, Olga Sarantos,
in her gravely voice, recounts poignant and surreal tales
of her life's great loves and losses.
2.
"New Year's Eve", The Knife: Little is known about
The Knife other than the fact that they're Swedish, refuse
to do interviews, and have only played live once. Their music
is all over the place, but consistently amazing.
3.
"Decatur, or, Round of Applause for Your Step-Mother!",
Sufjan Stevens: That Sufjan is completely gorgeous has (maybe)
little to do with the fact that I can't stop listening to
him.
4.
"High Art, Local News", New Pornographers: The best
single off their latest album, "Twin Cinema", everything
they put out is as deliciously catchy (but sadly not as salacious)
as their name would imply.
5.
"Devoid of Flaw", Peaches Christ: Released as a
b-side to her single, "Idol Worship", ironically,
I find it far more catchy. This dig on all that is flawed
(from pubic lice to Condi Rice) is a hilarious entre into
the endlessly talented and twisted mind of drag personality-slash-auteur-slash-now-singer/songwriter.

1.
Since U Been Gone ( Kelly Clarkson). After a breakup last
summer this song rummaged around in my head. It speaks of
heartache and passion and it's haunting long after the song
ends.
2.
I Just Wanna Dance (from the Jerry Springer Musical sung by
Jears). There is so much energy in this song that it lifts
me up every time I hear it. I first heard it in Provincetown
last summer and everyone on the dance floor was literally
jumping up and down throughout the song. Later this past autumn,
when a friend of mine and I were both going through some sad
times, we listened to this song to perk ourselves up. It's
the ultimate in perker-upper songs! Defiant, somewhat angry
and joyful all at the same time.
3.
Hollaback Girl ( Gwen Stefani). I thought that this song was
"this ain't no Holodeck, grrrl" and wondered why
anyone would write a pop song referencing Star Trek: The Next
Generation! LOL It doesn't really make any sense, it's kinda
goofy and when she spells out "BANANAS" it simply
goes over the top. What's not to love about an ode to talkin'
shit?
4.
You're Beautiful (James Blunt). My most recent favorite song.
It's a mournful, yearning, passionate song about unrequited
love and my heart aches every time I hear it and yet it fills
me with such bliss. Amazing
5.
I Hear A Symphony (Supremes). Only my favorite song of all
time. It's just only a song about incredible unlimited joy.
Wouldn't anyone want a love that sings to them so?

1.
"Freaks of the Industry" - Digital Underground
This has to be the sexiest song ever created. Makes me want
to cover my body in whip cream and slide right into this song...
ohh yeahhh.... I guess I'm just a freak.
2. "Do I Look like a Slut?" - Avenue D
yay! sluts unite! happy humpin!
3. "My Humps" - Black Eyed Peas
Makes me wanna dance! I have a hairless rat named Stumpy who
has a lot of tumors... i always sing this song to her and
her lovely lady lumps.
4. "Diggin' your style" - Frankie J & Baby Bash
Super Smooth beat... reminds me of that hottie young, up-coming
porn star who was flown to SF to meet with a gay porn company.
His agent dropped him off at my house to crash. We @..$@$!
for 3 days while listening to this song. He sings too!
5. "Pink Houses" -John Cougar Mellencamp
I love this song! don't know why... its very 'american', guess
it reminds me of the straight, humble non-porn life in the
mid-west that I never had.r had.

1.
"Future Lovers" - Madonna, Confessions of a Dance
Floor
I do yoga to this album and American Life every morning at
5:00 am and it totally inspires me for the day.
2.
"Funny Honey" - Liza Minnelli, Chicago
I bought a bootleg recording of a performance from the 7 week
stint where Liza played Roxie Hart in "Chicago"
on Broadway. Fucking amazing! Better than anyone else I've
heard.
3.
"Night of My Life" - Barbra Streisand, Guilty Pleasures
I can't believe the bitch made a dance song. What is she,
65 years old? We play this at Micky's "Cocktails with
the Stars" every week.
4.
"Spring Haze" - Tori Amos, The Original Bootlegs:
Manchester Apollo
This is my favorite concert of the new box set. She was really
channeling something that night and everything is much darker
than usual, especially this version of "Spring Haze."
5.
"Something So Right" - Annie Lennox, Medusa
This song was originally done by Paul Simon, but Annie's version
has more soul. It really defines where I'm at right now in
my relationship with my boyfriend, who is moving in this week
so I'm listening to it constantly!

Scissor Sisters – “Take Your Momma” - I
love these guys and this song! They are amazing live and remind
me of when I lived in NYC and used to see new bands like them
at CBGB’s!
2.)
Marianne Faithful – “Falling From Grace”
– No female can exude a life of ups and downs in her
voice like Marianne can.
3.)
Jeff Buckley – “Lilac Wine” – This
guy gives me the chills, he’s the only true male chanteuse
I know of. May he rest in peace.
4.)
Black Eyed Peas – “My Humps” – Simply
because Fergie is FIERCE!
5.)
Deathcab For Cutie – “Soul Meets Body” –
They’re in the same class as Scissor Sisters, an amazing
band.

The Exploited- “Horror Epics” – CD- Exploited
Box Set-
I
would rather lose a testicle than listen to Madonna. These
guys are the anti-madonna. “Maggie you CUNT!”
(another good one on this CD) was originally to Ms. Thatcher,
but…
2)
The Subways- “I want to hear what you’ve Got To
Say”- CD- Young for Eternity-
I
read in a review of this album that it was music to dance
to around your house in your underwear to. I was in my boxers
at the time… This whole CD kicks ASS. They will be the
next Nirvana.
3)
Them- “Square Room” – CD- Time out for Time
in-
I
have been getting into old psychedelic stuff and this is perfect
for that.
4)
Deftones- “Digital Bath” – CD- The White
Pony-
Great
mellow mood music.
5)
Adam Ant- “Kings of the Wild Frontier” –
CD- ANT BOX
Ant
music for ant people and no I’m not even close to embarrassed.

1.
Moloko “The Time Is Now” – My favorite of
favorites. Acoustic guitar and strings supporting a great
beat and Roisin Murphy’s slightly deranged vocals.
2. Kanye West “Touch the Sky” – Brightest
spot on a fantastic album – my favorite song of 2005.
3. Daft Punk “Digital Love” – Gets better
every time I hear it.
4. New Order “Thieves Like Us” – Simultaneously
warm and cool, it’s got some of New Order’s best
lyrics and music – drenched in emotion.
5. The Five Stairsteps “Ooh Child” - Classic soul
anthem from 1970 with a huge brass section, uplifting and
full of passion.
